An expungement is an order that requires state and local criminal justice agencies to erase something from a record. To be eligible for our services you must:
- Have an ADULT criminal record in Philadelphia (we cannot handle cases in other counties or states). If you have a juvenile record and you want to see if it can be expunged, please call 267-765-6770, or visit our Juvenile Expungement page
- Have been represented by the Defender Association in your matter(s)
- Not have any open cases or currently be supervised on probation or parole.
If you want to get your adult criminal record expunged, you can:

🗓️VOP appointments are no longer accepted if another attorney handled the original trial.

We’re joining @papublicdefenders in calling for increased state funding for public defense following the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision in Commonwealth v. Lee, which declared more than 1,100 second-degree murder convictions unconstitutional.

This past May, Peer Advocate Duane Price graduated from Temple University’s College of Public Health and was selected as a keynote speaker for the Class of 2026.
Having once benefited from many of the same support systems he now helps others navigate, Duane understands firsthand the power of advocacy, opportunity, and community. Today, he serves as a Peer Advocate for our Child Advocacy Unit, using his lived experience to support youth involved in the child welfare system while continuing to pursue his own educational goals.
His journey is a testament to what is possible when people are given the support they need to succeed, and how that success can come full circle through service to others.

Prosecutors dismiss at least 24 firearms cases after our Police Accountability Unit uncovered evidence that Philadelphia police officers were allegedly engaging in unlawful stops targeting Black men.
Public defenders do more than represent clients in court. We investigate, challenge unconstitutional practices, hold systems accountable, and protect the rights of the communities we serve. That work requires resources.
