Effective advocacy begins with understanding. Our Heritage Event gave staff the opportunity to learn from one another, celebrate different cultures, and share food, stories, and traditions that reflect the communities we serve.
Diversity strengthens public defense because every person deserves an advocate who recognizes the importance of their experiences, identity, and voice.

Without additional state funding, public defenders may not have the attorneys, investigators, and mitigation specialists needed to prepare every case.

As of July 1, several changes to Philly Defender services are now in effect.
These changes are intended to help ensure our clients continue receiving the quality legal representation they deserve.
Current service changes:
⚖️ Emergency Bail Hearings have been discontinued.
🧑🧑🧒 Staffing for 6G (Family Court) has been reduced.
📁 Post-preliminary hearing Defender appointments are only scheduled after a hearing on ability to pay.
🗓️VOP appointments are no longer accepted if another attorney handled the original trial.
